Appliances are heavy, top-loaded, and easy to damage in ways that only show up a week later. A fridge laid flat can lose its compressor. A washer moved without transit bolts can shred its drum. Getting it right is mostly about preparation, not strength.

Common questions
What do I need to do before you arrive?
Unplug and defrost the fridge or freezer at least 24 hours ahead and drain it. Disconnect and drain the washer hoses. Fit transit bolts if you still have them. Gas appliances must be disconnected by a licensed technician.
Can a fridge be laid down?
It should not be. Some can tolerate it briefly on their side, but oil can migrate into the cooling lines, and the damage shows up after it is plugged back in. We keep them upright.
